Morgan Freeman seriously hurt in car accident

Academy Award winning actor Morgan Freeman was seriously injured in a car accident in Mississippi on Sunday night according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

Police report that Freeman, 71, was driving eastbound on Highway 32 near the town of Ruleville, Miss., around 11:30 p.m. when his car left the road and flipped several times.

Police say Freeman and a female passenger had to be extracted from the vehicle and the actor was flown to Regional Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn., where spokeswoman Kathy Stringer said he was listed in serious condition. There was no word on the condition of the passenger.

The hospital, commonly known as The Med, is an acute-care teaching facility that serves patients within 150 miles of Memphis.

Ashley Norris, manager of the Ground Zero Blues Club in Clarksdale, that is owned by Freeman, confirmed the actor was in a wreck. Norris said she had no other details.

TMZ.com is reporting that state troopers said "The Dark Knight" star was talking at the scene of the accident.

Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesperson Ben Williams said Freeman and a female passenger were traveling eastbound on Mississippi Highway 32 in Tallahatchie County when his vehicle went off the edge of the road. Freeman overcorrected, flipping his 1997 Nissan Maxima several times before coming to a rest.

Emergency crews extracted Freeman and his passenger from their vehicle using the jaws of life. According to Williams, they were both airlifted to the Regional Medical Center in Memphis, where Freeman was listed in serious condition Monday morning.

The condition of Freeman's passenger has not been released.

Freeman, who won an Academy Award for his performance in 2004's Million Dollar Baby, is a co-owner of the Ground Zero Blues Club in Memphis. He currently stars in the Batman sequel The Dark Knight.

He drives a '97 maxima..? I thought Morgan wouldn't fit into the stereo-type but

nonetheless i hope hes alright...

^^ on verra quand toi tu auras 71 ans cque tu vas dire..

par contre jsuis d'accord pour qu'on dise que passé un certain age un test devrait etre de rigueur pour prévenir les risques qu'occasionnent les personnes agées incapable de suivre la vitesse du traffic

faque la.. si y décède (JE LUI SOUHAITE AUCUNEMENT CA!!) on va etre rendu a 2 acteurs dans le meme film qui décèdent relativement proche de la sortie du film..

What the hell, the guy is still alive, lets all hope he comes out fine and recovers, people all over the internet are jumping to conclusions that he's already dead, wtf is wrong with the state of this world, making pictures saying rip 2008, no respect at all.

Its as if people get joy out of the conversation they can have once he's dead and how they're shocked and by him surviving it takes that death conversation away and being able to call your friends and say, "Hey did you hear who died?" As if being the bearer of bad news is a joyous occasion and this is a coveted position. Disgusting.

think about the people visiting the site and not paying attention to real articles....they will spread the rumour that he is dead...

Danny has alot of publicity and when you do a search on google, montrealracing comes out at the top of the list of results...so it will be seen...
